Apollo applies cheat codes to save files. This page documents where those codes come from and — just as important — what nobody can honestly promise about using them.

The Formats Apollo Speaks

Save Wizard patches — the code format of the commercial Save Wizard PS4 editor. Apollo fully supports applying them.

Bruteforce Save Data (BSD) patches — the format of aldostools’ PS3-era community tool. Apollo fully supports them.

Game Genie codes — supported on the PS3 build.

Apollo’s own cheat definitions live in the companion apollo-patches project as plain-text
.savepatch
files, and its Patch Engine (v3.0.0 in Apollo v2.4.0) handles per-game decryption and custom checksums so edited saves validate. Applying them is covered step-by-step in how to apply cheat patches.

Editing a Save vs Cheating in a Live Game

Apollo edits save files on your console. It is not a runtime trainer, does not inject code into running games, and cannot help you in competitive online play. That distinction is the whole safety story:

Offline, single-player use is the use case the tool is built for.

Taking modified saves online — syncing trophies, joining multiplayer with edited stats, uploading edited saves to leaderboards — is where platform enforcement lives. Publishers and platform holders have banned accounts for save manipulation.

There is no such thing as an “anti-ban protocol” for save editing. Any site (including this one, in an earlier version we have since removed) that publishes rituals claiming to make edited saves undetectable is making it up. The only honest advice is: keep modified saves offline, and never risk an account you care about.

Our Rules on This Site

We document formats, sources and workflows — from the official Apollo documentation.

We don’t publish “how to avoid bans” content, because nobody can back it up.

We always say “back up first” — the one protection that actually exists.

When Apollo’s Patch Engine gains support for a game, it means the engine can decrypt that game’s saves, rewrite values with cheat patches, and re-seal them with the game’s custom checksum so the edited save still validates. v2.4.0 (October 17, 2026) shipped Patch Engine v3.0.0 with the following additions — quoted from the official changelog, not scraped from forums.

New Save Decryption Support (PS4)

Dead or Alive 5 Last Round

Goat Simulator 3

JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle

Jump Force

New Decompression Support

Dishonored 2

New Custom Checksum Support

Digimon World: Next Order

Dishonored 2

JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle

Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor

Middle-earth: Shadow of War

Monster Hunter Rise

Resident Evil 3

Resident Evil 6

Resident Evil Resistance

Resident Evil Revelations 2

Resident Evil Village

What This Unlocks in Practice

For these titles, the full loop now works inside Apollo: decrypt the save, apply Save Wizard / BSD-format cheat patches, and let the engine reseal the file with a valid checksum. Before v2.4.0, several of these games could be viewed but not safely edited, because an edited save failed the game’s own integrity check (the classic “corrupted save” outcome).

Keeping Perspective

Support is per-title and cumulative — the engine’s catalogue already covered many games before this release, and the
apollo-patches
companion project continues to add cheat definitions between releases. If your game isn’t supported yet, editing its saves safely may not be possible yet; forcing it produces corrupted saves, not progress.

A 100% completion save lets you start from someone else’s finished game — New Game+, endgame gear, all unlocks — without the hundred hours. With Apollo the whole flow happens on the console. Here is the honest end-to-end version.

Step 1: Find a Save

Open Apollo’s Online Database and browse to your game (matched by Title ID and region — a save from a different region edition of the “same” game usually won’t load). The library is community-sized, not complete; if your game isn’t there, the library tour explains what exists.

Step 2: Back Up Your Own Save

Adopting a completion save replaces your progress for that game. Export your current save to USB first (and keep it in your backup library) so the swap is reversible.

Step 3: Re-Sign (Mandatory)

The downloaded save belongs to its contributor’s account. Run Apollo’s re-signing on it — PS4 guide / PS3 guide — or the game will refuse it or call it another user’s data (mismatch fixes if you hit that message anyway).

Step 4: Load and Check

Start the game and load the save. Check the state matches the index description (completion %, unlocks). Some games bind extra data (DLC entitlements, online-linked progress) to the original account — those parts may not transfer, and no save tool can change that.

The Trophy Caveat

Loading a finished save can pop trophies in ways that look unnatural on a synced profile, and platform holders have historically flagged accounts for trophy manipulation. Apollo makes no safety promises and neither do we. If your profile matters to you, use completion saves on an offline profile. Background: cheat codes — sources and safety boundaries.

Inside the Apollo Online Database: What Saves Exist and How to Contribute

The Online Database is the library behind Apollo’s in-app save downloads: a community project on GitHub called apollo-saves, maintained by bucanero with saves contributed by users. This page is about the library itself — the separate how-to guide covers using it inside the app.

How It’s Organised

Saves are stored per platform (PS3, PS4, PS Vita…) and per game Title ID — the code like
BLUS12345
printed on the game’s case and save folders.

Each game’s folder carries a
saves.txt
index describing the saves inside (progress point, character state, what’s unlocked).

Apollo fetches an index from the project’s GitHub Pages hosting when you open the Online Database menu.

An Honest Word About Size

The project’s own README says it plainly: the list of available games is still limited, and it grows only when users contribute. That honesty is worth repeating because third-party sites sometimes market the database as a giant complete archive. It isn’t — it’s a good and growing community shelf, strongest on popular titles.

Using Downloaded Saves — The One Rule

Every downloaded save is encrypted to its contributor’s account. Re-signing is mandatory before a game will load it: PS4 · PS3. Most “the downloaded save doesn’t work” reports are this step being skipped.

Contributing Your Saves

Export a worthwhile save with Apollo (a 100% completion save, a New Game+ start, a rare unlock state).

Follow the contribution instructions in the
apollo-saves
GitHub repository — saves are submitted per Title ID with a description for the index.

Your contributed save can then help every Apollo user stuck on that game.

Good Candidates

Completion saves are the most requested category — our guide to using 100% saves explains the etiquette and the trophy caveats that come with them.
