Apollo applies cheat codes to save files. This page documents where those codes come from and — just as important — what nobody can honestly promise about using them.
The Formats Apollo Speaks
- Save Wizard patches — the code format of the commercial Save Wizard PS4 editor. Apollo fully supports applying them.
- Bruteforce Save Data (BSD) patches — the format of aldostools’ PS3-era community tool. Apollo fully supports them.
- Game Genie codes — supported on the PS3 build.
Apollo’s own cheat definitions live in the companion apollo-patches project as plain-text .savepatch files, and its Patch Engine (v3.0.0 in Apollo v2.4.0) handles per-game decryption and custom checksums so edited saves validate. Applying them is covered step-by-step in how to apply cheat patches.
Editing a Save vs Cheating in a Live Game
Apollo edits save files on your console. It is not a runtime trainer, does not inject code into running games, and cannot help you in competitive online play. That distinction is the whole safety story:
- Offline, single-player use is the use case the tool is built for.
- Taking modified saves online — syncing trophies, joining multiplayer with edited stats, uploading edited saves to leaderboards — is where platform enforcement lives. Publishers and platform holders have banned accounts for save manipulation.
- There is no such thing as an “anti-ban protocol” for save editing. Any site (including this one, in an earlier version we have since removed) that publishes rituals claiming to make edited saves undetectable is making it up. The only honest advice is: keep modified saves offline, and never risk an account you care about.
